Privacy Policy

Note: This is a plain-language draft policy prepared for EcoPass Tajikistan's early pilot stage. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Before relying on it as a binding legal document — especially for grant applications or formal partnerships — we recommend a professional legal review appropriate to Tajikistan and any relevant international jurisdictions.
1. Who we are
EcoPass Tajikistan is an eco-tourism loyalty platform connecting travellers with sustainable local partners across Tajikistan. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's protected.
2. What information we collect
- Travellers: name, phone number, and city, provided at registration.
- Partners: business name and contact details, provided when applying to join the network.
- WhatsApp requests: if you message us (for example a Shop interest or booking request), we receive your phone number and message and use them to reply and to count pilot requests.
- Explore Map: the map page and the app's Explore tab load map tiles from OpenStreetMap and the Leaflet library from unpkg.com, so those services receive your IP address and browser details. EcoPass does not ask for or collect your location.
- Usage data: QR check-ins, EcoPoints earned, and pass activity, used to operate the rewards system.
EcoPass does not currently process payments and does not collect payment card details.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your EcoPass or partner listing.
- To process QR check-ins and calculate EcoPoints and rewards.
- To contact you about your pass, partnership, or participation in the EcoPass pilot.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. How your information is protected
Data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. EcoPass is an early pilot and we are strengthening its access controls. Until that work is complete, please only enter information you are comfortable sharing in the pilot. We will update this policy when the changes are live.
5. What we share publicly
Our Impact Dashboard shows aggregate, anonymous numbers only (e.g. total travellers registered, total partners onboarded) — never names, phone numbers, or any information that could identify an individual.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to update or delete your information at any time by contacting us at the email below. As an early-stage pilot, we handle these requests manually and will respond as quickly as we can.
7. Changes to this policy
As EcoPass grows — including if payments are added in future — this policy will be updated accordingly, with a new "last updated" date above.
